  • Brakes: Check the brake pads for wear and make sure the brakes are working properly.
  • Chain: Lube the chain regularly to keep it clean and working smoothly.
  • Pedals: Ensure they spin smoothly and oil up if necessary.
  • Shifting: Make sure the shifting is working smoothly and that the gears are shifting correctly.
  • Wheels: Check the wheels for any cracks or damage. Make sure the wheels are true and that the spokes are tight.
  • Frame: Check the frame for any cracks or damage.
  • Bearings: Check the bearings in the hubs, headset, and bottom bracket for wear, oil up in advance of a ride.
  • Other components: Check other components on your bike, such as the pedals, saddle, and handlebars, for any wear or damage.
  • Last: If you feel that there’s to much going on, then any bike repair shop, or even someone like Halfords will be more than happy to check it over.
