Replacing handlebars on your bike is an important part of maintaining your bike and keeping it running smoothly. It is important to follow the correct safety precautions when doing this.

In order to change out your handlebars, you will need to know your bike’s make, model, and handlebar size. You will also need a set of hex wrenches, a flathead screwdriver, and an adjustable wrench.

Start by removing the brakes assembly lever, (its a good idea to have a cable tie, or wire hanger to hand, so you can place your levers so they do not get in the way) and tape the cables back from the handlebar.

Then, loosen the handlebar clamp using the hex wrenches. You will also need to loosen the stem bolt with the flathead screwdriver and the adjustable wrench. You can now remove the handlebars.

After that, you will want to put in the new handlebars and reverse the process. Make sure that all of the bolts are properly tightened and not over tight, and that the cables are set in the correct places.

Finally, test the bike to make sure the handlebars are functioning and that the breaks leavers are in the correct place before you ride.

This may well be a good time to consider replacing the hairgrips also !!
